Serums are a big part of the SkinCeuticals range and can help you to achieve the results you desire –from ageing signs, to blemishes and discolouration. Here we take a look at how serums benefit the skin and the cult SkinCeuticals serums to invest in, differentiated by skin concern.

What is a serum and how does it differ from a moisturiser?

Serums are different to moisturisers as they are made up of smaller molecules and contain high concentrations of active ingredients that are delivered deeper into the skin. Serums can also help to target a range of skin concerns, from ageing, to blemishes and discolouration. Moisturisers, on the other hand, are thicker and creamier in texture than a serum, and help to replace lost moisture from the skin. .

Should the same serum be used morning and night?

The skin’s needs are slightly different during the night and day, so you may want to use different serums. In the day time, for example, dermatologists recommend protecting your skin from environmental aggressors with an antioxidant serum, while the evening is the best time to introduce resurfacing ingredients such as retinol and glycolic acid.

Which SkinCeuticals serums are right for my skin concern?

At SkinCeuticals, we offer a range of hydrating and corrective serums to target specific concerns. Here’s a simple guide to our most popular cult serums.

Phloretin C F is our award-winning lightweight, non-oily serum that helps to reduce the appearance of blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles. It does this two active ingredients: dioic acid, alpha-hydroxy and beta-hydroxy acids.

Discolouration and uneven skin tone

If you have skin discolouration and stubborn brown patches,SkinCeuticals Discolouration Defense can help. Clinically proven formula enriched with tranexamic acid, niacinamide, helps improve the appearance of the skin, revealing a brighter and more even complexion. Its lightweight texture also means it can be layered with other products or serums.

Signs of ageing

Ageing signs are often caused by a loss of hydration in the skin, and H. A. Intensifier helps to amplify the skin’s natural hyaluronic acid levels. This super humectant helps to plump up the texture of the skin, smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the process. It’s also super gentle so can be combined with other serums in your routine, such as antioxidants and retinol.

Antioxidants are also a very effective way of preventing signs of ageing. C E Ferulic for example, is a daytime antioxidant that delivers up to 8x environmental protection with 15% pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid)*. This helps to prevent free radical damage and improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and a loss of firmness.
